Genetics Counselor

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a Genetic Counselor at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. 

• Full time opportunity, Monday-Friday
• 8 hour days, 40 hours per week
• No nights or weekends or holidays

The Position will have the following requirements:

• Degree/Education: Master’s level degree in Genetic counseling
• Certifications: BLS
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year expierinece in the last 5 years
• Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active and unrestricted license.

Key Duties Include

• Provide comprehensive genetic counseling to the entire spectrum of clients who are referred by consultative request for genetic evaluation, genetic counseling, and genetic testing.
• Maintains contact with a broad array of primary care and specialty health care providers to apprise them of the availability of genetic counseling for their patients.
• Provides psycho-social support for clients while providing clear explanations of the genetic evaluation and counseling process, including explanations of etiology, inheritance patterns, recurrence risk, management options, support group activities, research, natural history, and reproductive options.
