  • Job Description

    Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an opening for a Staff Accountant at their office in St. Louis, Missouri.  The primary responsibilities include: Ind.Other

     

    • Assists the Accounting Manager with planning, directing, and reviewing the closing of the financial books on a monthly basis within eight (8) workday deadline, including performance variance explanations for approximately 300 contracts
    • Conducts all accounting processes needed to close books at the month’s end effectively and accurately within seven (7) days
    • The first four (4) days will be spent paying physicians and preparing and uploading revenue and expense information
    • The next three (3) days will be spent in review and analysis of the area sites by reviewing profit and loss statements to create a description of variances
    • The eighth (1) day will be spent in the staffing performance meetings with the Operations & Senior management teams reviewing the monthly financial performance variances, operational Profits & Loss (P&L) statements, staffing and hours discrepancies
    • Prepares and reviews monthly financial reporting for operational management, such as monthly performance variance, operational Profits & Loss (P&L), overage statements, Accounts Receivable (A/R) reports, Adds/Losses report, statistics, etc.
    • Prepares and reviews accuracy of trade invoices excel files each month maintaining an error rate of less than 1% and ensures all accrued revenue is invoiced
    • Prepares reconciliations from General Ledger (G/L) to A/R system, Actual vs. Accural, and select balance sheet account reconciliations focusing on resolution of outstanding reconciling items, not to exceed 60 days old, on a monthly basis
    • Reviews operational bonuses, physician fees, and provider overages
    • Assists with the maintenance the management fee contracts from set-up through the invoicing and payroll collection procedures
    • Reviews and completes projections on a monthly basis
    • Codes accounts payable vouchers and expense reports
    • Assists with the completion and review the annual budget and awarded value development which includes site level budget development, with assistance from operational management, through to conversion of final budget detail (dollars and statistics) into Hyperion
    • Reviews A/R adjustments after keyed
    • Prepares A/R adjustments monthly
    • Runs and reviews staffing guides on a weekly and monthly basis
    • Prepares and maintains FTE schedules and J2 vs. Actual vs. Budgeted spreadsheet
    • Reviews, researches and cleans up area A/R, as needed and assigned

     

    QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
    • One to three (1-3) years of financial accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare environment
    • Personal computer knowledge along with strong spreadsheet and general ledger software skills
    • Ability to handle stress
    • Must be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage a large workload within tight deadlines
    • Ability to handle confidential data
    • Ability to adapt to change
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Sound judgment and excellent analytical skills
    • Must demonstrate initiative and leadership skills
